“Forgiven and Forgiving” – Sandy Robertson
Today’s message touches on a sign that was posted by fire fighters in remembrance of 911 – “NEVER FORGET, NEVER FORGIVE!” In contrast, Jesus said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”.
When do we become most like God? – when we choose to forgive. That’s what this message is about… what forgiveness is and what it is not. Forgiveness is NOT reconciliation nor dismissing, nor forgetting.
However, forgiveness IS the following:
- Refusing to punish when given the opportunity
- Relinquishing the desire to get even.
- Surrendering your right to hurt someone who has hurt you.
“Do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good.”

This sermon was powerful. I was moved to forgive people who really really hurt me. You must listen to this one.
